King, Cusack and Jackson

This looks like a very good movie.  I’d like to see it.

It has two actors who I’ve always thought were very good and very under-rated.

I bought “Ghost Rider” day before yesterday, but haven’t watched it yet.

MyGreatRides

In the interest of finding like-minded motorcycle riders, for riding or even dating, I found a few motorcycle community/dating sites.  Sharyn had found BikerKiss.com and recommended it.  It is oriented more toward the dating side of finding riding buddies, but I found their searching options to be pretty much useless and not worth paying for.  I recommended to them more than once that they add a “smoking” and a “drinking” filter.  They apparently didn’t think my money was worth the effort.   Not everyone who rides is a smoker and/or drinker.

Another couple of sites I found were bikernation and bikerworlds.  They are more like the “myspace of motorcycles”  I set up accounts at those, too.  It soon became apparent that these kinds of sites are catering to the “biker” lifestyle.  I am not a “biker”.  I am a motorcyclist.  There is an overwhelming atmosphere of sex, drugs, drinking, smoking, and wild partying at these sites and alot of real world “bike events.”   I am just not interested.

You can’t even look at the profiles and comments without soon being subjected to sexualized comments, crude and vulgar language, nudity, and pictures of people engaged in sex of all kinds.  There were a couple of women at those sites I would have liked getting to know, but when they even allow their “friend comments” to remain on their profile with that kind of content, my opinion of them automatically drops.   I guess since I feel the way I do about respecting women, treating women properly, drugs, smoking, drinking, and  keeping sexuality between intimate partners, I’m not their type anyway.

So, recently, I discovered that Geico (my motorcycle insurance company) had started a motorcyclist community online –  mygreatrides.com.  It doesn’t have a huge base, yet.   But, I like that it is about motorcyclists rather than bikers.  I set up a profile there and have been posting about some of my rides.

PGR Deputy Ron Meyer

I’m just getting around to getting this posted from more than a week ago.

Thursday May 31st

There was a Patriot Guard Riders mission in the Wheeling area for a Deputy that was killed while riding his ATV.   The turnout was large, from both the community and the law-enforcement/safety community.  The  PGR had about 30 bikes there; with the total being 50 or 60.  It was a pretty large procession.

I had been paged Wednesday to go work at the city/county building not far from the mission site and almost decided against the ride.  But, the client was understanding and didn’t mind me coming to work “in my ‘biker’ garb” so I was able to attend after I did the mission ride.

I left Weirton in a cool morning, dressed in layers in preparation for the expected high temperatures and hot sun.  It definitely got hot that day.  Because of the long time standing, one member brought water in a cooler for all the members.  Waiting for the procession to get moving was extremely hot, too.  When moving, it wasn’t bad.

After the mission, I went to the city/county building to work and then rode the approximately 30 miles back home.

A Bible Question Riddle

There is a character in the Bible whose name is never mentioned.  Who died as no other had, and who was never buried in a grave or tomb. Yet the body never saw corruption.  We are to remember this person.   We have a reminder in every home.

Who is this person?
