XBox 360

It looks like the XBox 360 is going to be hard to get.  I’ve been looking this evening at Ebay and other sites.  One bundle that looks good is the Platinum bundle at Buy.com.  But, they are out of them already.  All of the ebay auctions are pre-sales and some of them are going so high, it’s amazing.  Circuit City has the Premium unit advertised on their site, but is for in-store sales only and is not the bundle with extra games and such.  Most are starting around the 23rd.  I think this will be hard to get even without all the bundle extras.  EBGames online has pre-ordering on an “Ultimate Bundle” that starts with the Premium version ($399) and adds games, controllers, etc. for $699  Their site says:  Due to high demand, orders placed after October 26th may not ship until 2006.

Saturday Blahs

Didn’t get to take the motorcycle out today.  It was still a little cool when in the shade.  I wanted to take a ride, but I needed to work on the Jeep first.  I had to do a tune-up: plugs, filters, oil.  So, by the time I got finished with that, there wasn’t much sun left and I could feel the temperature starting to drop. Instead of riding, I came inside to eat and then watched all the “Whose Line Is It Anyway” episodes that I hadn’t already seen.

Iris DeMent

I’ve mentioned before that Iris DeMent is one of my favorite artists.  Here’s a mention of her in The Memphis Flyer:

10 A-List Concerts

BY CHRIS HERRINGTON | NOVEMBER 11, 2005

As a music fan, I’ve long cherished records more than live shows, but through two stints in Memphis I’ve seen lots of memorable concerts. Here, in chronological order, are the 10 I remember best:

<snip>

4 Iris Dement at Hi-Tone Café, 1998: Back home after college and freelancing for the Flyer, I previewed this show, and it’s still one of my favorite interviews I’ve ever done. I’d seen Dement in Minneapolis the year before at a 1,000-seat theatre. Here at a tiny club, the building was full, with a line outside the door three hours before showtime. Dement came on around 9:30, opened her mouth and broke hearts around the room. Elvis Costello’s Hi-Tone shows got lots of attention. This was about 100 times better.

Music

The radio was on at a location I worked today.  One song was Desperado.

You’re losing all your highs and lows,
Ain’t it funny how the feeling goes away.

I used to be that way.  Now I’d like to get back to it…. just being middle…. no highs or lows.

You better let somebody love you, before it’s too late.

I think it’s already too late.

Found a music blog that had a lot of music for download on it… and sounded like things I like.  So, I’m trying out some new musicians I’ve never heard of.  One is Silvie Lewis.  I like Glenna Bell’s song Face This World, too.  I’ll have to try another couple of songs of hers to see what I think.

I think Pritty is sick.  If she doesn’t perk up, I’m going to have to take her to the vet.

Weather and Motorcycle

There’s a tornado watch here in the tri-state area this evening.  It is very windy outside again.

I got the paper for the motorcycle and got the regular plate on it today.  I have to back to get the title in the morning.  It may have been ready before closing today, but they weren’t sure how long it would take.  I haven’t gotten the vanity plate ordered yet.  I’m still trying to figure out which one I want to try for.  I was thinking I would try for the next in the series of my plate on my car.  But, then had a couple of ideas for other ones.  On a motorcycle, however, they can only be 6 characters.

I took the bike out the highway today.  I discovered I don’t like the windshield.  I think it’s too short and makes the wind buffet me in the eyes.  I would probably like it if it was longer.  But, as it stands, it took my glasses off my face several times.  I like how the bike handles, so far.  It seems like it handles a little easier on the highway than the smaller bike I’m used to.  I’ll know more as I get a chance to ride it more…. which may not be until Spring now.

My IQ

I happened across the Tickle “Classic IQ Test” and took it.  I also got the full report.  It’s pretty interesting.
